Chapter Chapter 3 in Exploring Entrepreneurship, 2024, pp 37-72 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The role of entrepreneurial financeEntrepreneur/entrepreneurialfinance is of utmost importance in facilitating innovation, job generationJob generation, and economic expansionEconomic expansion, particularly in developing economies such as Benin. Nevertheless, the obstacles presented by rigorous regulations may impede entrepreneurs’ access to financial resources and hinder their potential for growth in the nation. This chapter examines the pressing matter of effectively tackling the obstacles of entrepreneurial finance within the context of stringent and changing regulations in Benin. The chapter investigates the regulatory framework of the entrepreneurial financial state and identifies the primary obstacles entrepreneurs face in securing financial assistance for their ventures. The chapter further examines the effects of these challenges on the expansion and long-term viability of start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the nation. By combining primary and secondary data, this chapter provides insights into the viewpoints of entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers regarding the current regulatory landscape. This study will explore potential strategies to alleviate the negative impacts of stringent regulations on entrepreneurial finance. Reforms in policy that make regulatory processes more efficient, expand access to financing, and foster an environment attractive to investors will be encouraged. Benin's sustainable and inclusive economic growth will benefit from implementing these ideas, as will the empowerment of entrepreneurs.
