Abstract: Abstract Approximately one in seven individuals experience disabilities that hinder their access to opportunities and employment, limiting their integration into society. Numerous scholars and articles emphasize the need for special attention to ensure that people with disabilities can lead relatively comfortable lives, with equitable access to employment and the ability to support themselves. To promote fair representation and treatment, specific frameworks and international laws have been established to facilitate employment opportunities for people with disabilities. These measures aim to address systemic barriers and provide a more inclusive environment in the workforce. This issue is particularly critical in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), such as Ghana, where overall unemployment rates are high, further exacerbating the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. In such contexts, the lack of opportunities is even more pronounced, making the need for effective implementation of these frameworks and laws more urgent. This chapter qualitatively examines existing literature on international laws and frameworks related to disability and employment, with a specific focus on the Ghanaian context.
