The Quantum Physics and an Artificial Intelligence Singularity

S. Niggol Seo

Chapter Chapter 5 in The Economics of Singularities of Science Elucidated with Buddhist Thoughts, 2024, pp 95-116 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides a review of quantum physics and an analysis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) singularity. Four quantum principles are explained: wave-particle duality, superposition, uncertainty, and entanglements. Three types of AI developments are explained: Pepper the Humanoid robot, the information robot such as ChatGPT or ChatBot, and the Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS). The nature of the AI singularity is characterized as chaos and distrust among people, the four mechanisms of which are elaborated in this chapter. The Buddhist perspective offers a ray of hope through the perfection of wisdom and peace through which chaos is overcome.
