Chapter Chapter 9 in FDR’s Long New Deal, 2024, pp 225-236 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Some of the New DealNew Deal’s critics on the Right referred not to RussiansSoviet Union but “Roosian Reds” to stress the similarities between the policies of Roosevelt and communistscommunism. Such claims were not as hyperbolic as they might at first seem as the economic poverty of communismcommunism was not yet widely understood and some even argued, plausibly in the early 1930s, that it provided superior economic outcomes.
