Chapter Chapter 14 in The Palgrave Handbook of Development Finance, 2025, pp 263-283 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are crucial for addressing the infrastructure financing gap, particularly amid budget constraints and increasing investment needs. This chapter examines the financial mechanisms that support PPPs, focusing on delivery models, risk allocation, and the growing role of institutional investors. It also explores policy measures and financial tools to enhance PPP feasibility, mitigate risks, and attract private capital, especially in developing economies where regulatory uncertainty and sovereign risk remain key challenges.
