Abstract: Abstract When David was born in 1909, her parents named her Florence Nightingale David. The Florence Nightingale was awarded the Order of Merit 2 years earlier. This was a monumental prize, given to at most 24 living people in the Commonwealth lands for their accomplishments in the military, sciences, arts, literature, or promotion of culture.
