Abstract: Abstract The case study of the transboundary Mbalam-Nabeba ore iron project between Cameroon and Congo, under the aegis of China-based companies, offers an interesting perspective on the potential role of global and local actors regarding China’s Silk Road. It highlights current trends ongoing in foreign policy both at the global and at the sub-regional level, and the demise of some non-state actors from the West and how China’s influence offers the opportunity to both countries to reassert themselves vis-à-vis those non-state but influential international actors like foreign companies.
