Chapter Chapter 6 in Mastering Decision-Making in Business and Personal Life, 2025, pp 147-180 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores structured decision-making models, emphasizing their role in improving decision quality across personal and professional contexts. It addresses the existing research gap by providing a comprehensive examination of key models such as SWOT analysis, cost-benefit analysis, decision matrices, Pareto analysis, and the Six Thinking Hats method. Despite the widespread recognition of these models, there is limited integration of insights into how they can be systematically applied to enhance decision-making processes and outcomes. Each model is examined for its practical applications, providing insights into how they can be used to systematically evaluate options, manage risks, and enhance outcomes. Real-world examples demonstrate the effectiveness of these models, illustrating their impact on successful decisions in various scenarios. The chapter concludes with key lessons on integrating these models into decision-making processes to achieve more informed and strategic decisions, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
