Abstract: Abstract This chapter explores the complex and multidimensional nature of occupational suicide, particularly within the framework of financialization in modern organizations. It explores various theoretical perspectives, including Durkheim's sociological insights, to analyze the impact of broader social and institutional factors on occupational suicide. The chapter presents a case study of France Telecom, where a shift towards financialization resulted in social fragmentation and a sequence of employee suicides from February 2008 to October 2011. It discusses how prioritizing shareholder value and financial imperatives over traditional operating principles created a workplace environment marked by isolation, competition, and declining moral and social values. This analysis thoroughly evaluates occupational suicide in a financialized corporate landscape, emphasizing the significance of examining the interaction between organizational strategies, social cohesion, and employee well-being.
