Abstract: Abstract During the period between 1950 and 1953, American experts turned in favor of monetary stability and a balanced budget. A study on the Greek banking sector is published, the IMF starting to get involved in Greece and Edward Tenenbaum assuming the duty of policy coordinator to lead the country in economic order. The role of the Hoffman and Welldon missions are also highlighted in this chapter and the Greek economic policy pursued by Kartalis in unison with the American directives is presented too. The Varvaressos Report, the interventions of the IMF and the successful stabilization of the drachma in 1953 are also analyzed.
