Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides a summary of the challenges associated with emerging and exponential technologies in supply chains, while also identifying key research avenues within each domain. It begins by examining recent trends and the contextual challenges of integrating disruptive technologies into various supply chain processes. Additionally, it outlines future research directions to guide readers in their academic and practical exploration. Key areas of interest include the application of 3D printing in reverse supply chains, the role of drones in intermodal logistics, the deployment of autonomous vehicles and robots, advancements in autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), the impact of blockchain on SME supply chains, the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT) for smart replenishment, and the use of augmented and virtual reality in supply chain operations. Furthermore, the chapter discusses the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in optimizing supply chain efficiency. By addressing these themes, this chapter serves as a foundation for future research and practical advancements in the field.
