Abstract This chapter presents what the book project is about, its purpose, its objectives, and the major question that undergirds it. It also provides detailed definitions of the major concepts of the book: i.e. (a) socioeconomic effects, (b) knowledge production, and (c) knowledge management. In addition, it discusses the essence of the book and what the chapters that follow entail, albeit briefly.
