Chapter Chapter 2 in Carbon Accounting and Sustainability, Volume I, 2025, pp 33-66 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter explores the intricate interplay between global warming, government policies, corporate strategies, and related climate institutions. Given these complexities, there is a pressing need for a cohesive strategy to manage greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In response, the Dynamic Integrated Carbon Accounting (DICA) System is introduced, specifically designed for the accounting realm to address climate change challenges. This chapter unpacks the essence of DICA and its five core modules: GHG Emissions Quantification, Financial Carbon Accounting, Management Carbon Accounting, Carbon Assurance, and Green Finance. Towards the end, this chapter delves deeper into the DICA System’s distinct features, foundational principles of carbon accounting, and how this field integrates insights from diverse disciplines into its structural modules.
