Abstract: Abstract Laser-based powder bed fusion describes an additive manufacturing process in which a metal or alloy powder is printed layer by layer. For each layer, metal powder is distributed on the underlying sample, before the powder is fused onto the previous layer by melting it with a laser. In order to give predictions on the experimental side in terms of defects structures and the mixing of alloys, we focus on molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. This allows us to describe the highly non-equilibrium dynamics on an atomistic scale.
