Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces the Inca, the devices used for calculating and recording numbers known as the quipu and yupana, the Chronicle written in 1615 by Guamán Poma that contains a drawing of a checkerboard yupana that is the key to the ancient Inca method of calculation.
