Chapter Chapter 2 in The Economics of MotoGP, 2025, pp 7-32 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we will analyse the most important costs of producing a motorcycle for competing in MotoGP. We will detail these costs considering the components of the engine. We will also detail the costs for a MotoGP team, taking into consideration the evolution along the seasons. We will also discuss budgets across the competing teams. An important part of the budgets is dedicated to the riders, so the estimation of a Mincerian equation will show that performance and experience are main determinants of riders’ wages. Finally, we will detail costs for organising a season in MotoGP, taking the perspective of the organising holding.
