Chapter Chapter 7 in The Political Economy of Indonesia’s Economic Development, Volume II, 2025, pp 219-243 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Indonesia’s industrial transformation since the late 1990s reflects the broader trajectory of post-authoritarian economic liberalization, integration into global value chains, and shifting state-market dynamics. While the country has historically lagged behind regional peers in achieving deep structural industrialization, the period from 1997 to 2024 has witnessed important milestones in manufacturing development, innovation policy, and state-led industrial strategy.
