Abstract: Abstract Escalating climate hazards, droughts, floods, cyclones, and heatwaves pose acute risks to urban populations in Southern Africa. This chapter examines adaptation frameworks, sectoral strategies, and governance responses to these threats. Case studies from Lusaka, Harare, Maputo, Windhoek, Johannesburg, and Gaborone highlight practices ranging from wetland protection to innovative water management. Barriers such as fragmented governance, inadequate finance, and institutional weaknesses are critically assessed. The analysis underscores the need to integrate adaptation with DRR and urban planning, advancing resilience through multi-sectoral strategies that safeguard livelihoods, infrastructure, and ecosystems in the face of accelerating climate change.
