Abstract:
Abstract This chapter undertakes a quantitative analysis of militancy in each of these theatres using data from the University of Maryland’s Global Terrorism Database. This analysis focuses on the fatalities resulting from terrorist activities. It defines a measure for judging the effectiveness of a governments anti-terrorist policy. It analyses the sub-regional contributions to this measure for a particular region. Lastly, it analyses inter-incident inequality in the distribution of fatalities from terrorist activity.
