Chapter 2 in Financial Social Media, 2026, pp 17-36 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Today, a single message posted on the Internet can have a profound impact on financial markets. For example, as mentioned in Chapter 1, a false report of a bomb explosion on X.com (formerly Twitter) on April 23, 2013, caused the Dow Jones Industrial Average to drop by more than one percent, erasing $200 billion in market value in just two minutes.
