Abstract:
Abstract To explore patterns in financial social media (FSM, hereafter) posting activities, I selected the Wall Street Pit trading platform on TheLion.com , one of the most popular stock trading platforms today. As an example, I collected real-time message data, recorded on the same day the messages were posted, from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2010, resulting in a dataset of 1,048,575 messages. In the following sections, I analyze patterns related to messages, stocks, and posters, each from a different perspective.
