Chapter Chapter 14 in Sustainable Economic Development and the European Green Deal, 2026, pp 489-537 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In the contemporary global economy, the pursuit of sustainable industrial development has emerged as a cornerstone of long-term competitiveness, social cohesion and environmental stewardship. Within the EU, these objectives are crystallized in Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG9), which calls for the construction of resilient infrastructure, the promotion of inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and the fostering of innovation. Achieving these targets is not only a matter of technological advancement, but also of aligning economic, environmental and social policies to address intertwined challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity and economic inequality.
