Chapter Chapter 5 in Sustainable Economic Development and the European Green Deal, 2026, pp 185-236 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In a European context characterized by multiple transitions on ecological, digital and social, Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which aims to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as full and productive employment, becomes a fundamental strategic benchmark in building a resilient and equitable economy. This dimension has become increasingly relevant in the wake of the overlapping crises of the last decade: the sovereign debt crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic and the instability generated by the conflict in Ukraine—which have exposed deep structural vulnerabilities in the economic growth models and social protection systems of the European Union Member States.
