Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we discuss the existence of ground states in systems describing the interaction between nonrelativistic particles and bosonic quantum fields, with an emphasis on the infrared catastrophe causing the emergence of non-Fock ground states for massless fields with an infrared singular interaction.
