We who are not as others

Chapter 12 in The Origins of Holomorphic Dynamics, 2026, pp 161-174 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Nineteenth-century analysis strove to revise paradigms, beliefs, and claims, ultimately dropping those deemed harmful to the development of analysis. The drastic positions taken during the previous century were reversed: after examining complex numbers and negative values in chapter 4, we focus here on the singularities of analytic functions. This chapter covers a period of over two centuries.
