Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces “The Power of Inclusion”, a practical, story-led exercise that has been successfully used at all levels to surface and shift everyday behaviours that impact inclusion at work. Grounded in research on inclusive leadership, the exercise focuses particularly on understanding the impact of inclusion and effects of exclusion within the workplace – calling for leaders to adopt an inclusive mindset and create a more inclusive culture. This chapter is written firmly from the practitioner’s perspective—drawing from real-world examples and providing insights that resonate in the boardroom. Against the backdrop of the so-called “Culture Wars” and a growing political backlash against DEI there is a pressing need to re-engage leadership in the inclusion agenda. This chapter speaks directly to CEOs and executive teams, those with the power and responsibility to shape culture. It offers a compelling case for inclusion as the most effective—and human—response to division. The exercise has been used across industries and cultures, demonstrating that inclusion, when genuinely felt, ignites behavioural change and renewed leadership purpose.
