Abstract: Abstract The transition to Industry 5.0 presents significant opportunities for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their competitiveness through advanced technologies. However, this digital transformation also exposes SMEs to increased cybersecurity risks and data protection challenges. This chapter examines the evolving cybersecurity landscape for SMEs in the context of Industry 5.0, analyzing the expanding attack surfaces and key threats they face. It explores strategies to mitigate these risks, including the potential of blockchain and federated learning technologies. First, the role of blockchain technology in strengthening security for SME applications is discussed, with a focus on lightweight and privacy-preserving solutions. Then, federated learning is examined as a privacy-preserving AI approach that enables secure collaborative data analysis for SMEs. Finally, the chapter highlights future trends and challenges in cybersecurity and data protection for SMEs, emphasizing the need for scalable, cost-effective security solutions tailored to Industry 5.0.
