Chapter Chapter 2 in Business Transformation, 2026, pp 17-61 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Building on the first chapter and exploring the paradoxical nature of the enterprise, we recognize that in modern times it is increasingly difficult to understand the reasons for certain actions, whether political, corporate, or individual. When we question everything about the way we live and act, it seems appropriate to begin this chapter by recalling the literary character of Pirandello (1904), Mattia Pascal. In Pascal’s paradoxical parable, Il fu Mattia Pascal, Pirandello presents a character who ties the threads of identity and action in an indissoluble knot, showing how the former ceases to exist without the latter. This forms the basis of our philosophy for this chapter.
