Chapter 14 in ChatGPT for Math, 2026, pp 155-164 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Mathematical research is not a single activity. It involves exploring small cases, reformulating definitions, testing hypotheses, constructing examples, searching the literature, and planning proofs. ChatGPT cannot replace mathematical reasoning, but it excels at supporting the exploratory phase of research. In this chapter, I describe practical ways to use ChatGPT as a research assistant—one that helps us view a problem from different angles, test ideas quickly, and organize our thinking.
