Abstract: Abstract ChatGPT is not a theorem prover, a computer algebra system, nor a database of mathematical results. It is a predictive language model. Given a sequence of words (tokens), it produces the word (token) that is statistically likely to follow. For my mathematical work, understanding this simple fact is essential for using the system effectively and safely.
