Chapter Chapter 8 in Institutional Economics and Immigrant Integration, 2026, pp 161-168 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This conclusion highlights integration as an adaptation of informal institutions, with culture shaping legitimacy, coordination, and social alignment. The Cultural Distance Integration Model (CDIM) advances theory by formalizing cultural distance and introducing threshold dynamics, offering predictive tools beyond descriptive paradigms. Its practical implications lie in differentiated, evidence-based policies sensitive to diversity, gender, class, and spatial contexts. Future research should validate CDIM empirically, extend it to intersectional and spatial dimensions, and refine communication strategies. Epistemological tensions remain with critical and constructivist approaches, yet CDIM contributes to a pluralistic landscape by combining institutional economics with cultural sociology.
