Discovering Robert Grassmann (1815–1901)
Ivor Grattan-Guinness ()
A chapter in From Past to Future: Graßmann's Work in Context, 2011, pp 19-35 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In appreciating Hermann Grassmann it is unusually significant to conserve his family background, for he belonged to themiddle of a trio of generations of professional mathematicians and mathematical educators. In particular, it is known that his relationship with his younger brother Robert (1815–1901) was close, at times active even on a daily basis, and on occasion a professional one between author and publisher.
