Abstract:
Abstract A mathematical framework based on noncommutative geometry is proposed to describe the Integer Quantum Hall Effect (IQHE). It takes localization effects into account. It permits us to prove rigorously that the Hall conductivity is quantized and that plateaus occur when the Fermi energy varies in a region of localized states.
