Abstract:
Abstract An assay can be described as the comparative analysis of the estimation of the strength of a drug on animals, animal tissues etc with that of a standard drug. An indirect qualitative assay considers groups of animals or experimental units subjected to different levels of some stimulus and the proportions of animals responding to the stimulus is observed and this proportion will be related to the level of the stimulus. A quantal-bioassay involves studying the relationship between dosage and response proportions (or percentages). They are usually characterized by studies in which a dose of a drug is applied to n experimental units and r of them are observed to respond to the drug dose and hence n-r of them do not respond.
