Abstract: Abstract As mentioned above, the method of Cholesky for solving systems of linear equations was first published in 1924 (that is 6 years after the death of his author) by a Commandant Benoît [42]. Who was he? Even the initial of his first name was unknown, and Benoît is a quite common French family name.
