Chapter 5 in Sovereign Money, 2017, pp 101-142 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter deals with the dysfunctions inherent in the split-circuit fractional reserve system, such as proneness to inflation or asset inflation and crises due to the GDP-disproportionate growth of the money supply and the levels of financial assets and debt, non-safety of bankmoney, and disproportionate financial income at the expense of earned income. Further topics include the question of lawfulness of bankmoney and the constitutional dimension of the monetary system.
