Abstract:
Abstract This chapter treats in detail phase space analysis for wave models. We begin with the elementary proof of well-posedness results for solutions to the Cauchy problem for the free wave equation. The classical damped wave model serves as an example of how to prove sharp decay estimates for the wave energy of solutions by using phase space analysis.
