Abstract: Abstract The chapter discusses the development of supply chain management and IS integration in the context of the Chinese automotive industry. The discussion covers the drivers of industry development, the status quo of the automotive market and IS applications in the automotive supply chain. This chapter also sets the empirical settings for the following three chapters of interviews and survey.
