Abstract: Abstract From its home at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley, California, the Eightfold Way overlooks the mountains adjoining Grizzly Peak and San Francisco Bay. It is a polished tetrahedral form carved out of white Carrara marble, cupped in a black serpentine column and centered in a tessellated disc of stone tiles: the disc is subtitled Circle Limit 7 (Fig. 1).
