Portrait of Escher: Behind the Mirror
Kelly M. Houle
A chapter in M.C. Escher’s Legacy, 2003, pp 175-188 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract From the first time I encountered M.C. Escher’s work, I began to think about the possibility of hidden worlds. Even as a child, I wondered if there would ever be a moment when I would suddenly “find” the fourth dimension, the way I had discovered so many of the mysterious worlds within Escher’s work, or if I would ever discover that I had a twin who had been living life as my mirror reverse. I became fascinated by the process of discovery and the feeling of sudden realization when I came to understand one of Escher’s many illusions. Now, I have the same reaction to anamorphic art.
