Abstract: Summary We present a mathematical model for self-driven particles (2-D Optimal Velocity Model), which can reproduce a big variety of patterns in group formation and phase transition physics, by changing only two control-parameters and the number of particles. We show the formation of several typical patterns and their phase diagrams. The model can be applied to the study of group formation of collective bio-motions such as schools of fish.
