A chapter in Traffic and Granular Flow’05, 2007, pp 587-593 from Springer

Abstract: Summary We describe a new model of vehicular traffic flow with phase transitions. The model is obtained by coupling the classical Lighthill-Whitham-Richards equation with the 2 × 2 system proposed by Aw and Rascle. We show an application to the modeling of a bottleneck, and compare the results with those obtained using other models.
