Abstract:
Abstract We present a modified numerical algorithm based on a first order asymptotic procedure for solving singularly perturbed second-order boundary-value problems (BVPs). We outline the derivation of the asymptotic procedure and show how the method may be adapted for solving BVPs. The algorithm is similar to the shooting method. We present some test cases, including the Fisher equation of mathematical biology, and the results indicate that the method would be useful for solving BVPs.
