Abstract: We consider a 1D inviscid model to simulate river or channel flows with variable cross section. Let Ω(x, t) be the wet section of the river at point x and time t. We denote by h(x, t) the height of water from the lowest point of this section and by b(x) the height of this point with respect to a fixed reference. We put η(x, t) = h(x, t) + b(x) (see Fig.1).
