Abstract:
Abstract More powerful end-systems and faster access networks make large-scale distributed multimedia applications such as streaming, gaming, and Internet telephony increasingly popular. These services have a wide range of strict requirements with respect to timely data delivery and bandwidth. It is therefore difficult to provide proper system support in a shared distributed system of increasing heterogeneity such as the Internet. Challenges lie in system performance, scalability and utilisation, and the user’s perceived service quality, which is frequently called the quality-of-experience (QoE).
