A chapter in High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering '10, 2011, pp 327-337 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The suitability of Large Eddy Simulations to study the jet in crossflow configuration under high turbulent conditions was investigated. The simulations were conducted using a solver programmed with the open source OpenFOAM CFD Toolbox. The grid dependence of the results was studied. While only small differences are visible in the mean variables, the turbulence description is affected by the grid resolution, as expected. The parallel performance of the two computing clusters employed was assessed. The inter-node performance was good in both systems, while the intra-node performance difference was higher. The simulations were able to predict successfully various features of the flow.
