Chapter 1 in Cybernetic Approach to Project Management, 2013, pp 1-14 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Project emerged in the twentieth century as a business competitive edge accomplishment. The basic definitions of a.o. a project, project management, project management method, with their benefits and risks are introduced in this chapter. The newest approach of ISO/DIS 21500:2011 views projects as a set of processes. In a cybernetic approach of Wiener, these processes are feedback with the project as an environment and self-regulating loop as a von Foerster second order cybernetics. Third order cybernetics occurs in a decision looping of the project manager himself. Mental model of L-Timer® shall facilitate the handling of target oriented project management towards higher efficiency and thus better business competitive edge.
