Abstract: Abstract The study of abelian groups with isomorphic proper subgroups [l] and groups with isomorphic proper direct summands [2] by R.S. Pierce and the author suggests the consideration of abelian groups G such that G ≃ G ⊕ K for every direct summand K of G.
