A chapter in Hyperbolic Problems: Theory, Numerics, Applications, 2003, pp 929-939 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract We consider the equations of isentropic gas dynamics in a Lagrangian frame, also known as the p-system (1) $$ {{\left( {\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} v \hfill \\ u \hfill \\ \end{array} } \right)}_{t}} + {{\left( {\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} { - u} \\ {p(v)} \\ \end{array} } \right)}_{x}} = 0, $$ where v, u and p are the specific volume, velocity and pressure, respectively.
