Abstract: Abstract In our discussions of Newton’s method we demonstrated how an apparently innocent system of differential equations gives rise to unimaginably rich and complex behaviour after discretization. This is also the Leitmotiv of our last example, the Volterra-Lotka equations for a predator-prey system.
